I NOMI DEL SIGNOR SULČIČ

2018  /  80'

Irena Ruppel discovered unprecedented things about her life when, together with her friend Ivana, a university researcher, she arrives in a remote valley in the Po Delta. And she seems to know many things about the valley worker who welcomes her, who, in turn, is intrigued and disconcerted by this fascinating Slovenian woman, who seems not to speak Italian, but understands everything that happens. Irena leaves a slim clue to the valley worker Gabriele , with her name and a border town between Italy and Slovenia along the river Isonzo, Tolmin (Tolmino). Gabriel cannot resist and sets out in the footsteps of Irena, from Trieste to Ljubljana and finally to Tolmin. A journey that will open up the truth about the identity of his parents, about himself and, finally, about the woman who generated this explosion in his quiet and placid life. A journey into personal and collective memory, among Nazi spies, fascists, Tito's militias, real and false identities, fathers and sons, real or presumed such.
